Description

Sharpless 119 is a largish emission nebula in constellation Cygnus. There are not too many images of it around due the close proximity of eye catchers, North America and Pelican Nebulae. Sh2-199 locates just three degrees East from the NGC 7000, North America Nebula. This object is an excellent image to capture, but it is often passed over because of the nearby SH2-117 (The North American Nebula), but is considerably fainter.  A bright magnitude 5 star 68 Cygni, can be seen at very center of the image above. There are several dark globules at the Southern part of the nebula. Within the overall structure of Sh2-119 are seven LBN objects (LBN 383, 389, 390, 393, 400, 401, 402) and  nine LDN objects (LDN 942, 943, 944, 946, 947, 948, 951, 952, 953).

I first noticed this target when I did a wide field image of the North America and Pelican nebula. I had to come back the next year to do this capture.
